The recognized Nigerian Muslim cleric disapproves the new gender equality bill, he disapproved this with the note that the bill is against his religion

Nigeria is a country that is populated with individuals, with different cultures and religion. Its one of the  country that has the highest population in Africa. This country has one of the largest  aggregation of ethnic groups in Africa. There are more than 200 Tribes in Nigerian and among it are: Igbo, Hausa-Fulani,Yoruba, Annang, Ibibio, Igala, Efik, Etsako etc

Being a country with a very high aggregation of ethnics groups and religion, decision making tends to be difficult, because some decision that the State might want to take might either be kicking, or intruding in one of the religion,Therefore making a decision or having an accepted Bill or law tends to be more difficult.

One of the decision or bill that is waiting to be approved is the Gender equality Bill, this Bill points out that women should be given equal rights and privileges just like Men and not to be seen as a creature born to be used to serve domestic activities. That they should be allowed to participate in everything just as their counterparts. They should be allowed completely to vote and also be voted for in every available position in the country.

In this regards, the different religions reacts; the Christians sees this decision or Bill as a welcomed development as it does not affect their religion. They said that the Scriptures permits equal inheritance, While the Muslim religion sees thus different.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhamed Sa'ad Abubakar in this view points out that Muslims would not accept the violation of Islamic Law guaranteeing men a greater share. Speaking in Zamfara State in The Koranic recitation ceremony The Sultan said ''Our religion is our total way of life, therefore we will not accept any move to change what Allah permitted us to do".

He also said that Islam is a peaceful religion, and the believers have been living peacefully with Christians and followers of other religion, and therefore they should be allowed to perform their religion effectively.
